I can't work on the vest anymore. I need a smaller circ, as the 24" is too big, now. I could probably get a few more decreases in, but it's really inefficient and annoying. None of the places in town have 16" 2.75mm circs of any sort, so I guess I'll have to order some online. I'm going to give Susan Bates needles a try, as I can get them from ( Read more... )

I think my fair isle is improving. The Feral Knitter kindly wrote a post in response to some of my questions. I'm delighted to hear that the color stranded on the bottom does indeed usually show up better, which is what I'm finding. I thought I heard the opposite at some point, which is why I was confused when switching things up didn't improve ( Read more... )

I'm very close to finishing the first pattern repeat on the vest. The bad news is that the way I'm holding the rough Shetland yarn in my right hand is really irritating my pinky finger. Do I try to build up a callous? Do I just stick a bandaid in that spot? I think I'll go with the bandaid option, as that should take care of the pain right away ( Read more... )

Pictures today! I didn't finish a pattern repeat on the fair isle vest, but that's because we had houseguests, and sock knitting while chatting with people and watching movies is much easier than fair isle knitting. I did, however, make a ton of progress on the sockapal-2-za sock.

Thank you, internet! My head was starting to spin with different stitch count possibilities for turning the heel on my Sockapalooza sock, and just in time I found these lifesaving charts. The knitting group was great last night. I got a nice start on a R.I.B. sleeve, and taught someone how to do a provisional cast on. This means that I know how to do provisional cast on well enough that I can teach someone. Who knew that? I certainly didn't.
