I'm very close to finishing the first pattern repeat on the vest. The bad news is that the way I'm holding the rough Shetland yarn in my right hand is really irritating my pinky finger. Do I try to build up a callous? Do I just stick a bandaid in that spot? I think I'll go with the bandaid option, as that should take care of the pain right away. I think that the humidity is playing a role in this, as it just adds extra friction. Genius that I am, it didn't occur to me to spend some time in the air conditioned rooms upstairs until yesterday. I'm just so used to sticking out the heat...
I discovered yesterday that at some point I switched which colors I was working in each hand. Somehow, I had the main pattern color in my right and the background in my left. I started out the other way, and think I only worked a few rounds like this. I actually think that my tension is getting a lot more even, and for a bit throught it was the color switch, but after some thought I think it's a coincidence. I'm not as happy with how the main color pops with that arrangement, so I switched back, and am hoping that my tension stays in its improved state.
I also worked on the sock. I finished the heel flap, turned the heel, and have started the gusset. Now it's pretty much mindless knitting until I reach the toe. Poifect!
No pictures today. Progress isn't great enough to warrant it.
