After Charles loses everything he ever loved, he realises that Erik was right all along and joins him. This is angst of the highest quality, folks. It doesn't get much better than this.

There is an empty space in his room, beside his bed. Not quiet as in an abandoned room, but utterly, featurelessly blank. Like a box made of unblemished, impenetrable metal and Charles knows before he opens his eyes.
I can't speak for accuracy but it's wildly in-character and hot and also deals nicely with the fact that Charles can't feel his lower half.
