I've been reading through the game manual for Space:1889 and find I'm waffling on whether I should use the rules as is, or use an alternative system. The game system is inelegant, with a number of complicated charts for each weapon and a lot of rules for running a game. I've had a copy of the original hardbound printing of the Game Designer Workshop edition of Space: 1889 for a number of years. I got it in  collection of other RPG stuff, and for the most part it's just been sitting on the shelf. I put in my time off request for that weekend and made my reservation. Since it's a chance to hang out with all the ORAC folk and help promote Fencon I figure it's the best option. So I thought a bit more about this steampunk safari costume idea, and did a little sketch. I've decided my character's name shall be Lord Bertram Pertinent. All kitted out for his safari on Venus, the gas mask is just a precaution, can't be too careful around those low lying methane swamps.
