I decided to take the new job at the university.  I called the director of the English Department.  He is kind of a tool, but the head English teacher was really nice and keep talking about how much the other professors want me to come.  This either speaks to my reputation or the level of jackassery from previous employees ( Read more... )

The monitor on my laptop stopped working again.  This means I can not call out to the US and updates will be sporadic.  I have a new computer at my dads house, but I think I will wait until I go there in August to pick it up.  I might had to mail the thrice damned broken computer to the US to get it fixed.  I am just not sure how that would work ( Read more... )

  Last weekend I went to a Conference on Extensive reading that was put on by KOTESOL.  It kinda gave me a blow to my wallet due to some ignorance and bad choices on my part.  I had a bit of a hard time breaking the ice and networking, but over all it was fun, especially the Turkey Dinner.  Turkey is rare here in Korea and a familar or authentic ( Read more... )

 EPIK Orientation was great.  It was so invigorating being around all the new teachers.  My presentations went well and I was shocked by how well they were recieved by the new teachers, who turned out to be ravenous for information.  I met some wonderful people and greatly appreciated the positive energy.

So I finally finished A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin.  I have been enamored with the Song of Fire and Ice series, but this one felt more like a chore AND took me 7 months to finish it.  The previous ones where all finished within a week despite being around 1000 pages.  The book centered around characters that I really just didn't about ( Read more... )

So I have been busy lately.  Although I have only had about 2 hours of classes a day, I have been filling the time with hiking, reading, and hanging out with other expats.

I went to an EPIK conference on Friday and Saturday.  It was nice they gave us $20 and paid for our ride.  They also put us in a nice hotel...  Much nicer than the love motel that I was in in Sept.  It was really good to see everyone again.  We had some speakers, a talent show, and a really rowdy MC.
