During my first semester at Changpo the decision makers got the dimwitted idea that the best thing to do with a Native English Teacher was to schedule him to teacher every single class in every single grade during the semester.  This means that I would see all 36 classes of 7th-9th graders 2 or 3 times a semester.  Because this was a waste of time ( Read more... )

When to an EPIK conference in Gyeongju yesterday.  For the first time ever all the Pohang EPIK teachers were gather in one place and it was really nice to see people that I have not met in quite awhile.

So I just used Dave's Top 5 game in a class of third grade middle school students.  Now as you may know here in Korea 3rd year MS students have already had their final examine.  As you can imagine they have little or no interest in classes right now, even the ones where we are just having fun are much more difficult than usual to keep them on task.

Self Explanitory. Today I am stuck at Changpo with no classes.

So two weeks ago I went SCUBA divinyg in Hupo.  I went with two co-workers and although they and their wives were fun and interesting people I am relatively certain that the whole two day affair was an attempt to get me to speak English with their Childern with the promise of SCUBA diving.  It was clear that the focus of the trip was fishing and ( Read more... )

Dear Korea,

I love you guys, you know I really do.  I can hang with the kimchi and I love sam gyep sal more than life itself.  Recently hundreds took to the streets to prevent "Crazy Cow" disease from coming to Korea and stealing your retirement and promote Fan Death.  I have already talked about how absurd the concerns about Mad Cow disease are ( Read more... )

So recently it has been brought to my attention that I used to write poetry.  Granted it was really, really bad due to the fact that it hardly made it more than one draft.

Nonetheless, I am now a comsumer of other people's work.  The Writers Almanac has been a great help, and I  started almost everyday with Garison Keillor for about a year now.
