Our college course decamped en masse to the main college campus today (we normally meet in a far flung outpost, hehe!) for our Emergency First Aid at Work training day. The teacher was brilliant, made us laugh all day but was a brilliant teacher and I felt I had learned an awful lot by the end of it.
It all got rather hectic towards the end as I had a phonecall which made me very cross and which meant I had to rush home on foot as fast as I could once we'd finished the first aid, so I could let in the TV aerial man who had arrived an hour earlier than expected! If I hadn't gone back there and then, I would have had to reschedule to another day yet again, and I wasn't prepared to let this farce carry on any longer so thought it best to get it out of the way today!
In brief - he was meant to come on Friday between 1 and 5. He was delayed so didn't. I rearranged for today after 3.30 - it's normally between 1 and 5 but the lady said that it was absolutely fine and I was booked in for after 3.30. Hurrah! Until I got a phonecall just before 2pm saying 'he's on his way and will be with you in half an hour'! I shouted at the poor woman... however nothing could be done as he was off to a different town after me, so wouldn't be able to come back to Crewe today - it was now or never! Ran home, let him in, got the TV set up then dashed out to collect L3 from school, slightly late! Just to complicate matters further, I then spotted the voicemail message on my landline which had been left while I was out this morning - a lady informing me that my engineer would be with me this morning and I could expect to see him before 1 o'clock!!
Basically the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing and I won't be using that company again! Never mind, we have TV back and the quality is amazing for someone that's been used to iplayer on the laptop/Wii! The children have already given me a guided tour of their favourite channels as watched at Grandma's house, LOL! I'm looking forward to having full control of the remote this evening ;-)
I had a phonecall from Mum earlier with some sad news - her oldest cat had to be put to sleep this morning. :-( Phoebe is the last cat I remember being there while I was still living at home - and she was my favourite and the children's favourite too. Just very old age; it isn't really a surprise but it's still very sad and we will all miss her. :-(
Having worked so hard at first aid today (ok, it wasn't really a hardship as it was so enjoyable, but still...), I'm having a rest from college work tonight. I'm hoping the children will sleep a bit earlier this evening; they all struggled to settle last night.
