What a beautiful day it is; not that I've spent much time outside enjoying it, but it's been lovely to look at through the window!
Church this morning was rather emotional, as it is Father's Day my dad is very much in my thoughts and tears were already closer to the surface than usual. Then following a sermon in which fathers were mentioned rather a lot, we then immediately sang 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind', which we sang at Dad's funeral. I cried all the way through it! :-( However there was a very lovely baby there today who had come to be officially welcomed after her baptism and she made us all giggle and cheered me up quite effectively!
Dropped the children off with Tim and his partner so they could go for a Chinese buffet to celebrate Father's Day, and then walked home to enjoy the peace and get on with my latest assignment! I'd done part of it last night but it took longer than I'd expected so I had to finish it today. I finished task 1 (Health and safety regulations and school policy) then went and had my lunch while catching up with Eastenders from Friday, then came back upstairs and did Task 2 (Child protection and safeguarding). I printed it out joyfully and stuck it in my folder ready to hand in tomorrow when we go and do our first aid course! I have just four more assignments to write now and that will be it - amazing!
Made a cup of tea, watched the remainder of Italy - New Zealand (I was very impressed with NZ's defence) and then did an hour's ironing while watching Casualty from yesterday evening. Now the children are home and have had a good time, so that's good. I feel as though I've made the most of my five hours on my own and used them productively. :-)
Because I've already finished the assignment that needs handing in tomorrow, that means I can have a guilt free evening off college work, hurrah! I foresee a reasonably early night so that I'm fresh and ready for a day of first aid tomorrow. :-) Then the TV aerial man had better come after school tomorrow as promised or I might just cry!
