Oh there was one of those birthdays that most normal ppl mark in some big way. I didn't feel I had anything really to celebrate, so I just spread it out over a weekend and went for a soak on the appropriate day. Meh, CBA. Maybe next year.

It's 4am UK time and I'm awake and the dawn chorus has started. UK birdsong is amazing at this time of year, spring. So many different little sounds, mostly sparrows, starlings and wood pigeons here. Today the rain finally came and the garden will be very grateful and wanting much more. There are water restrictions here in PN currently so no watering in the garden. Everything is suffering apart from the chilli plants which are heavy with lots of bright red fruit.

Jetlag over, lawns mowed, first hedge trimmed and even some cutting back started on the 'car' hedge. But I'm not the only one trying to keep on top of the hedges this summer it seems. Both naybors have been at it. It must be the weather...but it's turned cold and rainy so the full green bin hasn't been the only break on outside activity ( Read more... )

Day One - first full day (Sunday) = fantastic.

Last Northern Summer I mowed a Saltire cross into the 'front paddock'. This year the theme will hopefully be a Yin Yang symbol. However, as I want to leave as much grass as meadow long as possible, I will simply mow an S curve across a circle of uncut grass and use plants for the 'seed' eyes in the design ( Read more... )
