A week ago Saturday the stray cat Perci dropped out of sight. I figured she was birthing. Sure enough, Monday she showed up to eat, sans pregnancy. I'm starting to sort of resign myself to keeping all six kittens. Yes, I know, insane. But they aren't actually in the house all the time and there is tons of land outside. Achi sleeps really well.  He likes to sleep on my lap.  If I have to move, I can maneuver him around, carry him--he sleeps soundly.  If I put him down to sleep somewhere else he wakes up briefly, but rearranges himself for more sleep.  He's doing a very ( Read more... )

Sweetie has never shown interest in the computer.  The kittens crawl everywhere in the computer desk.  They love walking, sitting and laying on the keyboard.  One of them managed to change all web pages to large type.  Tonight one switched me to DOS.  Ack!  Took me back to high school ( Read more... )

Well, my computer was shutting down all by itself for a couple of days.  I think it is user friendly again.  I wiggled its brains around.

Sweetie got spayed today.  She's a bit woozy. The kittens don't understand what's going on with her.

Well, good news on the cat front.  THEY don't have scabies.  I got a good vet today (don't even want to talk about the vet I went to yesterday).  He took a scraping from a bald spot on the tail of Achi, one of the kittens.  He looked at Sweetie first and said she definitely didn't have scabies.  After doing a lot of looking through a microscope at ( Read more... )

I gave the kittens baths today.  Except for Peetski (Tiny, the runt), they were not impressed.  Peetski thought he was in heaven.  This means I should have started giving them baths earlier, when they were young enough to accept it as an extension of the usual mothering.  Darn. The kittens can climb anywhere now.  Apparently my neck is the choice part of my body.  They climb up and wrap themselves around my neck.  I don't particularly want them there.  But after moving them numerous times, I'm beginning to just get used to it.  They're younger and have more energy for this war than I do.

I've had success litter box training some kittens! What fun! (Well, it's fun if you're successful.)  It's a lot easier than toilet training kids.
