I've had success litter box training some kittens! What fun! (Well, it's fun if you're successful.) It's a lot easier than toilet training kids.
I had found kitten turds in three different places. So I cut down a shoe box to a height they could climb over easily and filled it with litter. Cleaned the floor thoroughly and put the litter box where the most turds had appeared. Then the next time they ate and started to play, I picked each one up, put them in the box, and helped them make digging motions with their front paws. They all got out as soon as I let them.
Later I saw Shmanman (Chubby) lurking in the corner where other turds had been. So I took him to the box, made digging motions with his paws, and wiped his bottom with a damp paper towel. Voila! Success. Well, actually, he kept trying to get out to do the deed. But his mom came and checked on him and licked him while he was in the box, then he accepted it. I did the same for one of the tabbies that I saw in the same corner. Now those two at least use the box on their own. I'm so proud! I'm not sure all of them are eating solid food. They are hard to tell apart. So far we've only named three, and their distinguishing characteristics have changed since then.
