Two Saturday's ago we had a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) celebration in my town and Jane Goodall was the kickoff/keynote speaker.  And it was a FREE event!  So of course we went.  Everyone was so nice, we even got a table right by the stage to watch her.

We were walking into the mall yesterday when C-8 turned to me and asked, "Mom, what do they sell at NerdStorms?"

If I ever were to be a superhero, it would have to be Nerd Storms.  Think of my powers!

Also, Nordstroms is a stupid name.

On the list of things we did on winter break is go to the aquarium. I didn't bring my camera which I regretted as soon as the kids started being cute:

We have a week off for Thanksgiving, so what did I do yesterday?  I took the kids to the middle of nowhere to play in the dirt and weeds.  Some of us are just awesome that way.

Today, there was no school.  This is because our district requires us to take 8 furlough days.  Meaning teachers get paid 8 days less than they did last year.  Our district, not wanting to put these days anywhere convenient, made all the furlough days on Wednesdays.  The thought behind that being that people would be more inclined to vote for tax ( Read more... )
