The mundane world has kept me pretty busy over the holidays. Well, This past weekend was Silver Hamer, aka soggy hammer this year... or perhaps I should say Arrrrrrg hammer, as in Arrrrrg was I wet, cold, achy and sleepy! I probably would have cancelled going if it were not for the fact that our household had planned a nice lunch.

Lady Saraqan (drmrsgal ) and Lady Keina came over to the house last night and we had a combination Tea Party and Sewing Circle.  I taught / reviewed running stitch, double running stitch, whipstitch, and back stitch, and also taught Keina split stitch.

I ended up using the dining room as it required the least cleaning up.

While everyone else is heading to Atlanta to attend Dragon Con, I'll be  heading North to Knoxville to house-sit for my parents up in Knoxville. Konrad is staying at home, so I'll have a huge big screen TV three cats and a noisy cockateil to distract me while I work on my embroidery.

11th Century Byzantine Dancers outfit:

• The Soelae I made for my Roman can be worn with this outfit (dancer originally barefoot!)
• All beading has been checked and reinforced. Need to pack extra beads and pearls in case anything falls off (eep!)

Well I got one sleeve of the Heraldic Tabard's lining in with the EBIL EBIL piping included.

I had to resort to using the machine. Hand sewing went out the window.

I am however doing the top stitching by hand.
And it is requiring

bitty
micro
eye-crossing
stitches
to make sure it lays exactly where I want it to stay.

I'm working on the accessories for an outfit I am wearing to the girl scout demo this weekend.

I've got a 4-gore dress that's made of an brownish-olive linen-rayon blend. 
It's got a rounded neckline and gussets at the armpits.
