If I were to willingly read a Jane Austen novel, what should it be?  Like, which is the least chick-flicky or at least most intelligent and interesting.  I made the mistake of reading "Tess of the D'urbervilles" in high school and have since avoided anything that seemed remotely similar in time period or theme, (more or less).  My tastes in ( Read more... )

Been reading some of the Sherlock Holmes stories and they're great fun.  It felt wrong fangirling the movie without having ever read the books.  Literary temerity; I has it.  I've even come across some lines that are directly quoted in the movie.  Most of them are great fun at least, some have these looong boring setups with Holmes not doing much ( Read more... )
