Ahm, back!

Omigoodness, you skip the internets for a week and miss the world.  I admit, I checked e-mail and facebook and a few other things but I had very limited activity.  The break didn't turn out to be a revelatory or soul-searchy as I thought, but whatever.  I think it was healthy to get away for a bit, limit my time wasted on it and whatnot.  But now, *glomps*.

Still no word from grad-schools.  FML!  Seriously, I'm not a neurotic worrier.  I'm just not that girl, never have been.  But this anticipation is getting ridiculous.  It's not even "I'll just die if I don't get in!", it's just wanting to KNOW and then plan accordingly.  Accepted or not I'll be fine, I just want to know.

Watched "Justified", did anybody else?  Timothy Olyphant was in a cowboy hat.  I really don't even know if it was good or not.  I kid, I thought it was good not great.  It was just the Pilot though, and with pilots they're either awesome and the rest of the show doesn't really add up or they're just okay and the show gets better.  I'm hoping and predicting it's the latter.  I liked the film style of it though, and I think the story will get more compelling.  I'm hoping the ex-buddy bad-guy winds up not good but at least kind of uses his evil powers for good.

Went to Carlsbad on Wednesday with one of my besties!  It was lots of fun.  You gotta love somebody you can drive along with in silence for almost an hour, and then when that part of that one song comes around you both yell "MY NAME IS SUE! HOW DO YOU DO?!  NOW YOU GONNA DIE!!!"  Good times.  (But yeah, it was mostly talking and singing and not a lot of silence.)  I do like driving but she did most of it since we learned her navigation skills aren't that strong.  I've always had a good sense of direction and love maps, and even without one in front of me I knew better than her where to go.

In exciting, adventurous developments, we became first-time Couch Surfers!  My friend has hosted a lot of people but never surfed, and I've been on it a while but never done either.  We stayed with a cool older woman who's retired Air Force and has lived all over the world.  She's hosted a lot of people who had vouched for her so we weren't too worried about being killed and and butchered and hidden in a freezer or something.  She had two dogs, one of which was part wolf which was pretty badass, and about six cats.  And a few weird roommates, but we had our own little den area to ourselves.  She actually works at the caverns so we followed her to them early in the morning and got in fo free.  I hadn't been to them since I was a kid and I guess I didn't retain that much.  It's hard to care when your parents drag you to crap and don't even ask if you want to go.  But it was so cool this time around, we had a lot of fun.  We went in through the natural cave entrance which goes down through all these switchbacks.  And then it just gets darker and darker and quieter and quieter with more and more cool formations along the way.  It's just very eerie but fascinating.   It was fun getting out of town.

Why didn't anybody tell me about "Travels with Charley" when I was devouring so much Kerouac?  I had read "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Of Mice and Men", but didn't just love Steinbeck until "East of Eden".

Uum, went and saw Repo Men.  I call total bullshit.  Not because it kinda sorta rips of Repo! The Genetic Opera, but the ending.  Gah!  So mad!  And I'm not sure what it was but something about the whole thing was off.  It was like just when I started to get into things it would  change the tone and throw me off.  It felt like a lot of the scenes were out of order or something.  I did really like the music, good choices and fun use of it.  And Jude Law is pretty effing ripped up in this, unf.

Uuum, that's all I can think of for now.  I'll post some pictures later.  Is back!
