Homecoming Carnival, The Park, All Day [Post #2]

Oct 24, 2009 07:33

In keeping with the Homecoming theme, this year's carnival had a harvest festival look to it - mainly because most of the decorations from the dance had been moved out to the park to join the tents, booths, and vendors as they'd gotten set up bright and early this morning. The day was turning out to be cool but sunny, the smell of carnival food was ( Read more... )

There were all kinds of moddable carnival foods ready to be eaten: hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, funnel cakes, etc. Mmmmm funnel cakes.

George was never, ever, ever leaving the food area. This was like food at festivals at home times a hundred in yummiest.

Funnel cakes were on order next. Also cotton candy.

There were apple fritters. Real apple fritters. Beka's not turn them down. She bought two to start with, ignoring Pounce's complaints about the lack of fish paste.

"I guess somebody likes their fritters," Hayley said, grinning. "Hi Beka!"

For sitting and eating and talking and whatever else you prefer to do at a table, not dirty.

Well, yesterday had certainly been auspicious, confusing Arthur's mood to the point that it took him several hours more before he had his head in the game enough to check out what he'd bribed some people into doing to Katchoo the carnival.

He still wasn't as into it as he might have liked, but he did take a seat with a hotdog in hand. To commit himself to one of the games after making his round of the booths, or to flee like a fleeing thing head back home once he'd dunked Katchoo...

In the end, the latter won out embarrassingly quickly, and he made a quick stop by the target booth and hightailed it.

Ned figured he could wander through the carnival shortly but, for now, he was just riding the safest ride of all: a chair. He was happily worn out from the dance last night and chair riding seemed appropriate.

After an enjoyable morning sleeping in, Isabel made her way to the carnival to catch up with everyone she'd missed talking to at the dance last night.

She got a large coffee, found a seat at one of the tables with a good view, and settled in to watch people pass by.

Gavin had been traveling a lot but he had yet to see one of these up close and personal. He wasn't getting on just yet but he was definitely going to stare and gawk and wonder how something like this was fun.

"I knew we were friends for a reason," John announced, coming up and joining Gavin in the line.

"Why, because we both seem to be drawn to this huge circle thing?" Gavin asked, smiling over at John.

The prospect of a carnival was enough to bring Jonas out again to a large gathering. While he had no idea what one actually contained, he knew from research that it was supposed to be filled with rides and games and other activities.

Apparently, his eye had been caught by one such ride and he was finding himself enamored of the seemingly inanimate horses and wondering how riding this sort of thing didn't make the person dizzy.

Oh, this was one Angela was definitely going to try. Swings of any variety were good, and this was almost better than average. Might as well get all her adrenaline up before she considered paying Hannibal a visit at his dunk tank to tease.

"Angela!" Dinah called, strapping herself in to one of the nearby swings. "Having fun yet?" Her hair was still wet, yes.

"Oh yes," Angela assured her, as she made herself comfortable. "Homecoming, carnivals, friends I haven't seen in months..." All good things.

"You look... damp," she commented, grinning.
