Homecoming Carnival, The Park, All Day [Post #2]

In keeping with the Homecoming theme, this year's carnival had a harvest festival look to it - mainly because most of the decorations from the dance had been moved out to the park to join the tents, booths, and vendors as they'd gotten set up bright and early this morning. Gavin had been traveling a lot but he had yet to see one of these up close and personal. He wasn't getting on just yet but he was definitely going to stare and gawk and wonder how something like this was fun.

"This is no huge circle thing!" John chastised his friend. "This is a Ferris Wheel, one of the best rides ever invented." John didn't know Gavin was more of a Tunnel of Love fan.

"It just goes around in circles," Gavin pointed out. "How is this so great?"

He was so disowning Gavin for that comment. "It goes way up in the sky, nothing holding you in except a flimsy piece of metal and if you're lucky it gets stuck while you're on top."

"Doesn't look like it goes very fast," Gavin said, peering up at it. "I've gotta be missing something here."

"Speed is not the goal," John told him, frowning because people from outer space never really got the finer points of his favorite ride. "It's about the experience. You'll see." Oh yes, John would be paying the guy to get them stuck at the top.

"Hey, we don't have readily available space ships on my planet," John replied sulkily. That might be one of his issues poking its head free and giving the world a look.

"Maybe you don't but you're always welcome to come back home with me, see some sand," Gavin offered, slinging an arm around John's neck and laughing. "You wanna see a place where there's nothing to do, I'll take you to Tatooine."

"I have heard good things about the womprat shooting there," John admitted with a laugh, his issues eased with that thought.

"It's not too bad," Gavin agreed, nodding. "Beggar's Canyon's pretty fun too. And if you wanted to feel sleazy, we could always go to Mos Eisley, rub elbows with some unsavory characters. Really, though, the bars here are much better for that sort of thing."

"You'd know," John teased. "I swear, next break, I'm taking you up on that." He moved to climb in the ride and overpaid the guy greatly for their fare.
