The Decemberists are coming to DC (or, more accurately, to Columbia, MD) on 14 July. It is my wholly unbiased opinion that people need to flock to DC from the four corners of the earth (or at least of the US) to see them. And visit me while they're in the area, naturally.

Camera Obscura show, the short version:

Essex Green opened. They were okay, but the sound mixing wasn't very good.

Camera Obscura: Music was good. Show was not. They need to learn how to engage with the audience. I had no idea they were Scottish. Yep, I'm lame.

It's going to take a few listens to adjust completely, but I like Keane's new sound. They've matured as a band and incorporated greater stylistic variety into their work.
