My father, Reverend Roger Alan Pickering, passed away peacefully and quickly at 3:15 today

his decline was astonishingly rapid.
he was not in pain, and he didn't linger.

Dad and mom were scheduled to fly to Denver tomorrow, see old friends, go to an event, etc.
Dad had apparently (unknown to me) been having some tooth/jaw aches, which he put down to the sinus infection that he had been being treated for.

it got worse, mom scheduled an emergency appt (11 am) with the dentist, who said "the tooth here is cracked down ( Read more... )

i survived driving to Lancaster and back.  well i was a passenger, but still... i must consider it an achievement.
there were WAY too many people trying to kill us on the way to my parents and back..  i dont just mean the usual bad drivers, i mean people doing things that can only be described as "excessive stupidity".

Good news!
thanks to all who have been praying/working/sending reiki!

Dad had the new pacemaker put in this morning.  it is already making a big diference in his heart rythm.
despite having had surgery this morning, he is UP and WALKING! (as opposed to last time)

his appetite seems to have come back as of last night.  he ate ALL of his dinner.  this is ( Read more... )

went to see dad today.he ate a slice  and a half of homemade bread (half whole weat with fruit)
he was mostly in a chair. and got up and walked several times!
he was alert and awake the whole visit.

and they are hoping to have the new pacemaker put in on tuesday. ish.
yeah!
