It's COLD out there!!!

Or at least, it was cold out there; It's warmed up considerably since this morning. This morning we had temperatures hovering around -30°c, and now they're "up" to merely -8°c. With the wind howling outside, the temperatures were even colder, nearing the -40°c mark, and they say it went as low as -45°c last night! Yikes ( Read more... )

Well, here we are on Thursday night. Mom and I had planned to be back in Calgary a couple of days ago, then it was going to be tomorrow at the latest, but now it looks like it will be Saturday. The Kidling was sick this morning, or so he claims.  Headache, dizzy, overall not feeling well.  Most likely a case of staying up all night on Saturday watching movies at a friend's house, then not catching up on his sleep on Sunday, followed by eating too much for supper and going ( Read more... )

The last 48 hours have been just loads of fun.  Yesterday, the temperature dropped into the -20's, and the wind howled at around 40 km/hr, and we got snow.  Not much snow, mind you, only about 2cm worth, or less.  But combine that with the wind, and you get white-out conditions.  Thankfully trixstir  got to the ( Read more... )

     I finally got around to painting the one corner of the living room with Zinnser B-I-N paint.  This stuff is (supposedly) designed to seal in all kinds of nasty stuff, including pet urine.  I certainly can't smell cat anymore.  In fact, all I can smell at the moment are the fairly strong fumes of the paint itself ( Read more... )

     The thunderstorm that started last night continued all night long, and into the morning. In fact, it really hasn't let up all day, just easing back a little now and then, then coming in for some more rumbling.
