Trixstir and the kidling got back from the city safely on Thursday, which pretty much finishes the move (at last!)  I'm going back next week to upgrade some wiring, but otherwise we're about finished with everything that has to be done, other than finally getting an offer on the house.  Here's hoping that happens soon.

     The weekend is shaping up to be busy...  Trixstir and the kidling will be back on Thursday, and I just got off the phone with a U-Haul rep to book a flatbed open trailer for Friday.  The plan is that the kidling and I will boot up to the grandparent's farm in Lucky Lake on Friday, picking up the trailer in Swift Current on our way.  We'll load ( Read more... )

     The last couple of days have certainly been busy, getting the last items packed up and loaded onto the truck and trailer.  Friends are a big help when you're moving; sometimes it's actually physical help, and other times it's more emotional support, and sometimes it's both.

     I've been packing for the last couple of days.  In theory, I should have been able to do it all in a couple of hours, but it doesn't seem to be working that way.  I guess if I just rammed everything into boxes and didn't bother trying to sort anything, it would be faster, but only to a point.  There are some items that I can't pack (or move) ( Read more... )

I'm just about ready to head back to the farm tomorrow morning.  I had hoped that this would be the final trip, but I miscalculated the size of some of the items I'm moving, so it turns out I will need yet another trip to complete this move.  That won't happen until April though, so I don't need to worry about it just yet.

     With only 24 hours (hah!) before our departure, the kidling and I took the truck in to Mr. Lube this morning to get the oil changed, the chassis lubed, etc.  Along the way we had stopped at the bank to complete business there, tried to find a part I needed at a plumbing supply shop only to be told they didn't have one, but suggested another ( Read more... )

     Back in the city for a couple of days, though this time it's a bit different as I have the kidling with me.  The school is closed for a week for Spring Break (seems early to me, but oh well...) so he was able to come back for a quick trip.  As it's the "Family Day" holiday in Alberta today, his friends here in the city also have the day off ( Read more... )

I'm back out on the farm again, having made the trip safely and without incident, at least until I got to the farm...
