Back in the city for a couple of days, though this time it's a bit different as I have the kidling with me. The school is closed for a week for Spring Break (seems early to me, but oh well...) so he was able to come back for a quick trip. As it's the "Family Day" holiday in Alberta today, his friends here in the city also have the day off and he's out playing with them while I pack more stuff into the trailer. I managed to get a decent amount of stuff packed, and will get some more done tomrrow. I also spent part of the afternoon clearing ice and snow from the sidewalks and driveway, redid some weather-stripping on the front door, and changed out two fan-control switches in the living room. The switches work just fine, but they're beige, which is impossible to find in stores these days unless you special-order them. I bought two new white ones, and swapped them out. It's odd: I can get white, grey, or black easily, but beige is impossible. The colour-scheme the we have in Shaunavon really needs the beige switches, as white would just be too much of a contrast.
Shaw cable finally got around to cutting off the cable here, but I still have the antenna in the attic, so I'm able to get the local broadcast channels. I can't complain much, since I got a month's worth of free cable while they tried to catch up with the backlog of work they have to do. Back on the farm, I'm still pondering getting the satellite system, and there's a good special on right now with Star*Choice that makes it pretty appealing. $98 (net) for an installed Dual-Receiver system; One HD receiver and one regular receiver. The actual price is $100 higher, but they give you that back in "credits" for pay-per-view and programming. I'd rather just have the extra $100 off, but that's how it is.
Tomorrow we need to pick up a few things, finish packing, and probably most importantly, we must take the truck in for an oil-and-lube job. I'd like to have everything as ready as it can be by Wednesday morning so that we can just get up and go, without any further frittering around. I think we're just about done (at last) with this moving business. After this, I think one more trip will finish things off. FINALLY...
