i was at the barn today -- most usefully to talk to the owner of the little tb mare -- and decided to hop on stjarni for a bareback tolt. which was fine, except that i noticed that I HAD THE REINS CROSSED UNDER HIS CHIN -- only i *hadn't* notice for about the first five or ten minutes at all!

he's such an amazing horse, and i am such a fool :)

I just remembered this story while telling a friend of mine about my horses. I was getting back to riding last year after being out of the saddle for awhile due to illness, so my balance and so on wasn't all that great.
