Do any of you feed hay cubes for weight gain and as supplemental forage? I'd like to add cubes to Gali's diet on the days that he is worked this winter, but I'm not sure how many pounds would be appropriate. Just a quick question about feeding silage - I know a lot of people say not to feed it to horses at all, but due to hay/haylage shortage and high prices we started dropping the big round bales into the field just before Christmas. I had an interesting conversation with a local hay guy yesterday. If you live in New England, you know it's been raining almost every day for a long time! A minimum of 2 clear days is necessary to cut and bale hay, and 3 days is better, but we've had that maybe once in the past month.
