Rio didn't make it. A kidney tumor, they think. The hospital is attached to the shelter, so when my shift's over I'm gonna bring him home. Poor little guy must've been so scared. I hope his mate will be ok.

Uncovered the budgies' cage this morning, and Rio (the male) was on the bottom of the cage, puffed up and breathing hard. He let me pick him up (which he never does), but he couldn't stay on the perch I put him on. He's not moving his right leg at all. So we're at the animal ER. Poor little guy :-(

Early Friday morning, I was having a dream that my dad had died. That's not actually abnormal for me. I'm prone to anxiety and I often have dreams about bad stuff happening. So we took the green budgie (Katie has named him Juku) to the vet today. One of the many things I've never encountered before, being from a rural area for most of my life, is a proper animal hospital. Came home to find one of the babykeets huddled in the corner of their new cage. No problem, they do that all the time.
