Heard last night that a friend of ours lost his battle with cancer yesterday morning,  leaving behind a wife and 2 young daughters.  *sigh*  So sad.  He was about 4 months younger than me (42).  Way too young to die.  Next Wednesday is the 19th anniversary of my mother's death.  She was 52, and I thought that was too young.  What's really ( Read more... )

Not a bad year - 65 books read.  Granted, there's a lot of trite crap on there, but there are also some good novels.  Lauren kicked my ass with 82 books, but that's to be expected.

You know there something seriously wrong when you're standing with your wife, huddled together waiting for the train in sub-zero weather, and the first thing you have to do when you finally get on is to see if you've dribbled snot on her forehead.

For the record, I had not.

For years we have shared our cat responsibilities with our neighbors, whom I've known for 30+ years.  When then leave town, we take care of their cat, Toby, and they do the same for our beasties.  We each travel quite a bit, so that it seems every other weekend at the minimum one of us was feeding the other's cats.  They've been working on a ( Read more... )

I forgot to post the results of the drain issue.  After many failed attempts, they were eventually able to clear it out, so we're back up and running (or pooping, if you will).  However, the camera did find the line to be in very poor shape, so we will have to have it dug up and replaced, probably within the next 2 years.  At least that gives us ( Read more... )
