The cats like to jump on my desk because I have the computer monitor pushed to the back, leaving lots of lounging room. Ignatius is currently sacked out in front of me on the desk. This morning I took Aelfgifu and Ignatius to the vet for their annual checkups and shots. I found Aelf first and shoved her in the carrier. She balked and hissed but eventually went in. This morning when I awoke all 4 cats were on the bed with me. This is somewhat unusual. Most of the time at least one of them refuses to be in the same area with one of the others. Two cats were cuddled up against me. The other two were on Eldred's unoccupied side of the bed. It was lovely. I was able to sleep in because Monday is my day to work ( Read more... )

The assistant from the vet's office called this morning to check on Aelf. She said Dr. Furr wanted to find out how she is progressing. I told her she was eating and drinking fine, but still hacking and coughing. She said she would tell the vet. Aelfgifu seems to be mending nicely. She is eating and drinking plenty. We are still giving her canned food though. The other cats have stopped hissing at her. Eldred even caught Ignatius licking her head! She doesn't make the hacking noises as often, although she does have coughing fits occasionally. We have been concerned about Aelfgifu's weight loss. We know she has gingivitis. Her breath is putrid. We hoped that the weight loss was because of that. We have been feeding the cats more tinned food and making sure she gets a serving to herself. Having always been a night owl, I like to sleep in whenever I can. Today was a day off since I worked the weekend and, normally, would be a lazy day of sleeping late and hanging about the house. I had a very laid back Valentine's Day. I managed not to indulge in sweets. I had one Krispy Kreme doughnut at work. If it had been Dunkin Donuts, I could have resisted, but I *love* Krispy Kreme.
