Stuff has been happening recently.

I'm wide awake because I keep having bad thoughts about my animals.

Last time this happened to me, I got rid of my crested gecko, because it made me realize that reptiles were not a good choice for me. I'm really scared that I'll end up doing the same thing again.

Last night was a very productive night for me. I put a bunch of our old aquariums and reptile lamps I've had sitting in the basement for the better part of a year up for sale, as well as our old range. Yesterday evening before close, I was doing the rounds for animal wellness when I peeked in the hermit crab tank and found an extremely unfortunate sight. It appeared that we had a surface molter - and not only that, but she had lost her big pincher during the molt (it must have gone wrong) and she had also ditched her shell for unknown reasons. So I've been thinking about starting a blog for my hermit crabs, and call it something really silly like The Deranged Crabs or CrabbyDerange or DeCrabbyRange or something. If I did, would anyone here be interested in following it (I wouldn't post crabby things here anymore), and does anyone have any non-LJ or tumblr recommendations on blogging

Taylor got me an early birthday present yesterday in the form of hermit crab #10. I now have 6 purple pinchers and 4 Ecuadorians, so barring any future casualties, my little crabby family is now complete ( Read more... )

Bix finally decided to ditch her teeny tiny nerite shell! Only took her about two months. She couldn't even attempt to withdraw into it.

The 40-gallon is assembled. Note I didn't say "finished," because it is far from being finished... I just don't have the funds or time to do everything I'd like to now. Anyway 7 of 9 crabs are currently in it (Vecna buried TWO DAYS AGO, Gummo is still molting), so have some pictures.
