Our vacation thus far:

Pack bags. Get picked up by my parents at 3am in the morning.

Get pulled over by police. My father's license is expired. Oops.

Go on our way and catch a bus in Hyannis at 3:50 am.

Catch a Flight to Chicago at 8:30.

I've recently become obsessed with making this recipe for summer rolls. (Around here, usually called fresh rolls.) Rice paper wrappers are impossible to obtain locally, so after poking around, I found a recommended mail order supply for Asian ingredients (mostly Thai) at ImportFood.com.

Well my parents took me out as a belated birthday present to the Brazilian Grille. Glen M's Yelp review at the top of the page is hilarious and accurate. Meat on swords, delicious Brazilian side dishes, yum.

So yesterday we checked out Thuan Loi Restaurant, which serves Vietnamese food in South Yarmouth, at 1300 Main Street (Route 28). It's a tiny place (six tables), but surprisingly light and airy inside. The ceiling is very high and the walls painted white and decorated with (I assume) Vietnamese totchkes.

I'm thinking of making these Black Pepper and Lime oven fries. I'm thinking of putting them with a Zucchini and Avocado salad (Ensalada Esmeralda).

The one thing I'm a little concerned about is how the parmesan cheese on the oven fries will blend with the (I hope) clean flavors of the salad.

The fresh homefries in the earlier recipe were yummy. They were a bit oily. I think the amount of oil could have been significantly decreased and the amount of peppers and onions increased to a third and been even better.

This morning, I'm vacuuming and doing laundry. I'd like to get a dump run in too, but we'll see.

Okay, just left a very productive Bead Society meeting. It's a neat project that works up quickly, I'll try to post pictures some time this weekend.
