So a couple weeks ago, I made a vest and arm warmers out of a blazer that was too tight in the shoulders. I took photos all along the way to put together a bit of a tutorial. This is great if you have a partially messed up jacket and don't know what to do with it (tight shoulders, pit stains, maybe a bird pooped on the shoulder and stained it :P). ( Read more... )

Hi! I'm Jess and had a question for you girls who are at least a C-cup. Whenever I try and make a guys shirt into a girls shirt i can NEVER make it fit my boobs properly. i've read some recipes about distressing tshirts, but i was curious if anyone knew something specific for jackets? i have this brown jacket i'd like to make look more worn, but i'm afraid if i follow the tshirt instructions, i'll end up ruining the lining or something.

if it helps, the tag says the outside is cotton and the lining is polyester.

I'm sure this is possible... but not entirely sure where to start. I just bought one of those cute little faux leather military-style Candies jackets from Kohls, but it's rather short, and seems to lend itself well to having a skirt/tails kind of thing. I'd want it to be like velvet or lace...

Any clue where I should even begin on this?

I've been enjoying this community for a few weeks but now I have a question of my own. Anyone have any experience/tips on working with faux fur? About a year and a half ago I picked up a faux fur coat from a thrift shop for $10 - the zipper is broken and I thought rather than replacing the zipper why not get those little things that have the loops ( Read more... )
