Powers/Abilities [CANON]: Giselle is able to communicate with animals and insects, and seems quite as able (or perhaps even more able) to befriend them as to befriend humans. Even wild animals under her influence seem to become tame and show an increased level of intelligence. There is something about Giselle which makes people forget that they are still part of the real world and become willing to sing, dance and work with her, even if the manner in which she is behaving seems utterly improbable. On a slightly more mundane note, she is very good at making clothes out of seemingly any fabric that comes to hand, in very little time, and possibly even of finding said fabric.
Powers/Abilities [AU]: Although Giselle still has some ability to communicate with animals and insects, they no longer show the increased intelligence that had made them particularly useful to her. Whatever information she can get now needs to be something that it would be rather more rational for an animal to know, and help with household chores or the like is now ( ... )

Which is probably where the fairytale managed to get thoroughly confused, to find itself biting its own tail. In the end, it was Nancy that Prince Edward took back to Andalasia, which only goes to show that sometimes Happily Ever After can come from the strangest of places. Giselle chose instead to stay with Robert and Morgan, planning to make a life in New York taking over Nancy's clothesmaking business (with the clothes made out of fabric other than curtains this time) and going through a proper courtship with plans of marriage further off in the future.

Then, however, the Gate happened. Sometimes it seems like Giselle can never get comfortable in one world for very long.

And this time the magic door hasn't even sent my clothes with me, which just suggest that the wizard who made it probably shouldn't have been working so hard. Why do you play this character? Despite some years of roleplay experience, I've never actually roleplayed on Livejournal before, and figured that this would give me an opportunity to branch out away from the more cynical characters I usually tend towards. I love Giselle as she's got a sweetness of character without being a total pushover, and she seems like the sort of character where there's so much left to explore still.

Personality Hikaru is short, and therefore, others usually mistake her to be younger than she is, which is something that she is not really happy about. Her being brought up with three brothers has made her quite tomboyish as well ( ... )

Personality cont'd: However, although she might seem to be childish, Hikaru is able to easily see into other's souls (for a lack of a better word). She is able to tell when someone is sad by looking at their eyes. She also likes to know people's reasons for doing the things that they do, just in case she does something that might hurt them, or herself in the future because she does not exactly know what they had wanted. Again, this is another sign of her not wanting to hurt others.

Hikaru also has a deep love of animals, which led to her strange connection with them. She is able to understand them to a certain degree.

Her reaction to being sent to Veles would not be that drastic. She has been sent to other worlds before. She was pretty calm in canon, and that's how she'll be in Veles as well. After settling in -- or accepting the fact that she has to stay here for now, she'll try her best to help out everyone around.
Powers/Abilities CANON: She's able to control fire, and she has good fighting skills -- she knows kendo, and so she ( ... )

Personality Continued: Key points that shape him...well. At 5, he killed his mother. Not, oh, she died and he blames himself. No, he killed her, outright and with full knowledge of what he was doing. He has never been close to another woman in authority (with the sort-of exception of his uncle; see history), though he has little trouble with women outside of authority. At 10, his father abandoned him to the care of his uncle, and again, he distrusts any male in a position of authority (excepting his uncle again); basically, the two events combine to make him reject authority and control from the outside; he likes to be in charge of his own little section of life. The torture by the witches makes him assign strange women a low level of trust in general, and while he recognizes this unfair and sexist attitude, he still struggles with it after 70+ years; the more power a female stranger has, whether magical or not, the more removed from her he will set himself initially. Abilities Continued: Training: He can sew and cook, though he will never be a master of fashion design or a chef at a 5-star restaurant. He can also throw pottery, grind up grain, bake, carve, play a flute (not very well), and do many of the other predominately non-mobile tasks often associated with cultures that are not 100% up to modern standards (natives, Amish, whatever); generally, this has to do with what humans always called “women's work”, but he doesn't mind. All of these things are skills that he earned through practice, and will not be lost to the gate. In addition to the practical skills, he knows a variety of magical practices that rely on outside magic, the magic of the world itself, and so none of those skills will function in even a small bit in Veles, due to the catalyst not being present; what it does mean, however, is that he has studied and understands, to a degree, the way magic, in his world, works. Powers/Abilities CANON: Orphu doesn't have powers so much as functions. To compensate for being optically blind, he has a myriad of sensors, and primarily relies on a fine radar system to pick up details like facial expressions and body language. He is built to withstand and work in the vacuum of space, and can also endure the extreme pressures of the deep sea. He has some built-in tools for construction and metal-working, like a welding torch. He has organic parts, so might more correctly be described as a cyborg, and carries an internal oxygen supply to support them in vacuum. He is solar-charged, and in the event that he runs severely low on energy, has a sort of stand-by mode that can last him for up to three weeks. He has no weapons systems and is not remotely inclined to violence, but would be difficult to harm due to his tough shell.
Powers/Abilities AU: His sensors will be limited to relatively close-range, within a city sector, and everything but his radar will work only about a third of the time. The thrusters and repellers ( ... )

Disguising themselves among the spaceship debris, they crashland in Mars' ocean and have to hide there as more god chariots search overhead. Mahnmut installs a radio transmitter in Orphu's carapace so they can at least talk over tightbeam, but Orphu's only understanding of what goes on is through Mahnmut's relayed observations. Although they have only the vaguest knowledge of the rest of the mission (travel to Olympus Mons and activate a Device which may or may not be a bomb), they decide to do the best they can to complete it. The damaged submersible gets them to land, where Mahnmut enlists the aid of a race of photosynthetic Little Green Men. The LGM procure transportation for them in the form of a small sailing vessel, and help Mahnmut get Orphu on board ( ... )

After the initial chaos accompanying the opening of the Brane Holes, Orphu agrees to leave the field so the rockvecs can repair him. His optic nerves are beyond repair, but the rockvecs are able to repair his cracked shell and fit him with new appendages and sensors to compensate for his blindness. For the next 8 months, the moravecs aid the Greeks and Trojans in their war with the gods, and it becomes starkly clear that these so-called gods are not the power behind Mars' terraforming. Orphu remains on the rockvec base on Mars' moon Phobos, helping with their next major project: preparing a mission to Earth. On further study from Mars space, the moravecs determined that while Mars is the locus of a lot of quantum activity, the real source of it all is Earth. Some creature looking like a giant brain scuttling around on hundreds of human hands has just recently appeared there to wreak havoc ( ... )
