Back to our regularly scheduled programming....
Hello, hello! The world is a different place than it has been, in some ways.
- Yesterday I received a promotion at work... to executive director. The "wtf even" period hasn't quite passed yet, although I can see the "omg, wtf" stage on the far horizon.
- I can now quit my school bus driving job. Yay! Though I will dearly miss being around kids every day.
- My apartment is mostly unpacked and cleaned up! On Saturday, I slept in my own bed for the first time in 42 days. (I had moved into my apartment earlier that week but slept on the couch because there was no room to set up the bed since boxes and furniture were everywhere.) It is really, really nice to live in my own space again. I feel extremely fortunate.
- Ice cream and waffle party soon!

- Star Trek Reboot. Just... hell yes to all the fic with Kirk/Spock and Kirk-McCoy shenanigans, and to seeing the movie a third time, which I will get around to soon.
- Fast & Furious 6 was so happy-making. Best. Franchise. Ever.
- kateelliott's end to her Spiritwalker Trilogy, Cold Steel, just came out! My copy arrives Friday, and my evil little sister has already got the ebook, which she is probably reading at this very moment. At times like this I just keep reminding myself our parents love me best, though that doesn't help me get the new book any faster. Highly recommended, you guys. It's kind of Harlequin-y sff with some steampunk mixed in, amazing tropes including, but not limited to: surprise arranged marriage, magic healing cock, enemies to lovers, and the heroine doesn't realize the hero is actively courting her. And this is not a tongue-and-cheek parody-style story, rather adventure and light-touch romance in an intricately conceived alternate world.
- I had this awful premonition that somebody would somehow spoil the entire last season of BSG for me. Only one way to prevent that from happening, I guess.
Anyway, brave new world and all that, even without touching on scotus and that bamfy legislator in Texas, rockin' the filibuster. I didn't think I needed a new role model, but apparently I have one anyway?
