I made a vegetarian version of this West African peanut soup, subbing vegetarian sausage dice for the chicken breast. I also threw in a few vegan stock cubes. It came out more stewlike than a soup, and very satisfying ( Read more... )

Popped into MegaHardwareChain and bought some lengths of shadecloth to put over my tender seedlings. It may be humid today, but it's also going to be 38C.

While I can put up with frizzle edged leaves on established plants, I think seedlings need a bit of a helping hand.

Loving this brief pause in the hot weather. The last several days have seen max temperatures of over 35C and I'm heartily sick of it. Today and tomorrow it's under 30C, but humid. Kinda like the old home town, really.

The previous owners of this house were enough idiot to plant effin' Bridal Creeper in the backyard. Digging the little buggers up, trying to get all the little tubers and seedlings, is a major pain in the backside.
