This morning after breakfast I just had a short walk around where I lived, and look at all the beautiful flowers I saw. I was amazed at the range seeing as it's been so cold and wet recently!

Giro was a German shepherd that belonged to the German ambassador to the United Kingdom, Leopold von Hoesch. As, by this time, the German government was under Adolf Hitler, it has been described as Britain's only Nazi memorial. Flowers are put on Giro's tombstone every February

Cotehele still has a working Watermill that grinds flour ... and there are other workshops there.  Wheelwrights, saddlers, etc.   Where there had been a working quay it is now a visitor centre, and still used for trips along the river ... and a Cornish Gig Club.

Clinic today!  As yesterday was a Bank Holiday I though today would be my "Monday" which always seems bad.  However I was actually home 1/2 an hour early ... and the 3 patients (one cancelled and one no-show) were really nice men.  So a lovely clinic ... now, does that mean the rest of the week is going to make up for it ( Read more... )

I have just had a lovely 5 mile walk with Christine - again around the Newton Abbot area.  Amazing how much colder it was today than, Friday.  We even had a few spots of rain while we sat and ate our pasties.  Again. lovely areas to walk, and we saw Puritan's Pit, which was founded at the restoration of King Charles II in a collapsed limestone ( Read more... )

If you love graveyards then Edinburgh is certainly a place to go. Literally around the Old Town are 4 Kirkyards/Burial Grounds that I went to, and a little further out were even more. Burial in Churches was banned in the 1660's, and so the elaborate memorials we see in English Churches just moved outside ... and amazingly are still in good ( Read more... )
