Yes, I managed to do a shift on the switchboard .... I don't think I lost anyone in the system ... but will admit some of it was slow going. I didn't pick up as many calls as maybe I could have done, but it was nice to do some, relax for a few minutes and do some more. ... still don't know if I will 100% like it, but I am going to give it a go, for 3 reasons

• If I don't actually try it, then I can't say it won't be for me
• With other missing shifts it is good to be offered the possibility of the extra work
• I get on well with the "boss" and already know most of the team, who I do also get on OK

I certainly clocked up some hours at work last week, and in the end when I got in from work yesterday lunchtime I was feeling vert tired ... so decided to actually have a lazy & "nothing" afternoon. Work went well this morning ... although one of the patients spent any time he could complaining about the layout of the hospital.  I don't know what he expected me to do about it though!  Anyway to my way of thinking the hospital is like a large capitat T, so long corridors, but at least it's easier to direct people around ( Read more... )

I should have been working today, but after an hour one of the other workers arrived ... so I came home. It gave me a chance to try to sort out things for the weekend, as I am away from Friday (thus all the questions of the meme below!).
