Not to defend Twilight's sins, but I'd love to see the same amount of social comment and concern over the stuff teenage boys are watching and reading and playing. Harmful depictions of women aren't just harmful to women.

This is pretty awesome - Baen have made the entire of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series, bar one novel, available for free here and as a CD included with hardcover copies of the latest book Cryoburn. Found two Nero Wolfe books and a 1949 copy of Dorothy L. Sayers' The Five Red Herrings at a second-hand bookstore today. It probably says way too much about me that this was really exciting. (Is there such a thing as a book intervention? Because I may need it. SEND HELP THEY'RE TAKING OVER MY ROOM.)

There must be something fairly significant in the fact that some of the most hysteria-level crazy tirades against fan fiction come from authors whose work boasts qualities that might be mistaken for fanfiction-like, surely? Even though I'm not involved in SGA fandom on an active basis, it bothers me inordinately to see some of the things that were coming out of it in the last season and are coming out of it now.
