We had to put our dog down on Thursday.  It was the most difficult decision I had to make in a long time.  She was overnight at the vet a few days, and she did not improve.  The vet pretty much said she would not get better.  We brought her home, so the kids to see her.  I was also somewhat hopeful that she might do better when she got home.  I was ( Read more... )

Our dog is in the animal hospital for a few days and will hopefully recover.  She stopped eating.  She had some issues since we got back from vacation.  The vet is optimistic.  She is eating there and getting hydrated. She is 15 years old, so any additional days will be a blessing ( Read more... )

Vacation was great. The drive was long, but the break was worth it. I did virtually no work, checked my email sparingly, and generally checked out for over a week. Update - my estranged grandfather died. He was 92. I met him once when I was 10. I talked to him a few times when I grew up and was probably in grade school. My dad would talk to him a few times per year, and he had no interest in what my dad, my brother, me, etc, were doing in life.
