The wind is picking up around me although it's been gustier to the south for quite a while. Lots of helicopters working on preventing flare ups of existing fires and trying to nip spotfires for lightning strikes last night in the bud ( Read more... )

We're getting cloud cover building up, only to be blown away by the winds. No sign of fire on the tops of our ridges although smoke is still visible. It's getting hotter as the morning goes on. The helicopters are still going full swing, dumping water on trouble spots and trying to control perimeters ( Read more... )

We had a break today from some of the stress because of the rain, which was welcome, believe me.  I didn't have to keep on constant watch for spot fires from embers and the cooler day and cleaner, moister air really was a relief ( Read more... )
