The wind is picking up around me although it's been gustier to the south for quite a while. Lots of helicopters working on preventing flare ups of existing fires and trying to nip spotfires for lightning strikes last night in the bud.
The sky is incredibly clear around me with not a sign of smoke as the wind is stopping it building up and, to be honest, apart from the fire trucks barrelling past and the helicopters going back and forth overhead, you wouldn't know there were fires just over the ridges in my valley.
I wish I could enjoy it, but I know from news reports how conditions are just a kilometre or two away from me.
Still here, still stressed, still buggered and feel like I could do with about a week's sleep but safe and not even a little singed.
Like Madeye Moody, I'm exercising constant vigilence - no wonder he was a cranky bugger.
