I found these georgeous cases and couldn't wait to use them.   The cake's are orange flavoured with orange rind buttercream icing.  I was going for a more retro look and they came out pretty much what I'd imagined so I am happy with them.  Made them for my mums birthday party tonight.

I got a new piping tip today and wanted to try it out.

So I made french vanilla cupcakes with orange buttercream frosting. They're not perfect. And it was the first time I was using orange juice as a substitute, so the frosting ran a bit thin. But they taste good.

My friend and I made these cupcakes for a halloween/birthday party this past saturday. They're Devil's food (naturally) with plain white icing tinted black and orange, then decorated with milano tombstones, sprinkles, mellowcreme pumpkins and  halloweeny, non-edible doo-dads. Our friend insisted we shellac them. :)

I made semi-Halloween themed cupcakes earlier today. I used orange soda, which turned out alright (though a bit bland). I also used a frosting bag for the first time, and that didn't work so well. After a few tries, I gave up trying to make them look good and just had fun with it.
