Chapter 7

Gerard’s lips found Angel’s again and she sighed. Tasting his kiss she smiled as the kiss became deeper. Her mouth was tingling from his touch. Sliding her hand along his soft skin she felt his kisses become more frantic. His black hair draped around her face she could feel it brush her cheeks. She let her hand catch a small bit of his hair in her hand and pulled gently, he moaned. She looked up at him their lips entwined. She pushed her hips into his, wanting to feel him against her.

A loud knock caused them to both look in the direction of the door.
“Gerard? You up??” Came Mikey’s voice from the other side. Gerard sighed,
“Sorry.” He said to Angel. She rose up onto her elbow when he got up. Then she collapsed back on the bed in a cloud of disappointment. Gerard flashed her a look of ‘I’m sorry” and opened the door.
“Yea I’m up. What’s wrong?” He said. Mikey looked as if something were bothering him. He was fidgeting where he stood.
“Am I bothering you?” he gave Gerard a worried look.
“No man, its ok, come in.” He stepped back and sat on the bed beside Angel with her still lying on her back.

“I have to ask a favor. It’s a huge favor but I really want to do this.” Mikey said as he sat in the chair by the bed. He looked down at his hands as he spoke. Afraid to look at Gerard’s directly, he forced himself to concentrate on his fingernails as he told him about Audra. He explained what her parents were going to do and what she had told him. He told him what his plan was, never taking his eyes from his hands. He looked up to see Gerard looking at him intently. He couldn’t tell whet he was thinking. His face was unreadable.
“Look I know this is really a big thing and I know she is so young but she doesn’t want to do what they want her to do. I don’t think she should have to. You know we cant…” He paused for a moment trying to find the right words.
“Continue as we are forever, and I just want to help her while I can. I have to do something for her I just have to.” He said looking into Gerard’s eyes.

Gerard’s mind was racing with this idea. Yea they couldn’t go on forever, he knew that. But this would definitely draw attention to them. If the girl could get out unseen and go with them but what if she is seen? He shook his head. The look of disappointment swept across Mikey’s features just as a summer storm would sweep the sky. Gerard pressed his lips into a tight line as he finally gave in.
“Ok, we’ll do this, but I hope it doesn’t blow up in our faces.” He said as he looked over at Angel who sat silently behind Gerard now.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” She said.
“You said she’s 14?”
“Yea.” Mikey said softly as if he had just done something awful and gotten caught by his mother.
“There could be a lot of trouble if we do get caught. But I understand that she needs help. Not sure if I agree with going against her parents wishes but who am I to tell you what to do?” She said and let a small-unamused laugh escape her lips.
“Yes you do have the right to say what you think. You are with me?” She nodded.
“Then yes you do.” Gerard said. Mikey looked from Gerard to Angel. They were staring into each other’s eyes.
“I was interrupting.” He said and a smile spread across his face. I’m so sorry.” He couldn’t help the small giggle. He knew it wasn’t the time but he just couldn’t help it. Angel blushed as he looked from her to Gerard and that caused Mikey to laugh.
“Well if Gerard wants to agree then I guess I wouldn’t disagree. I think we should help her if we can. We just have to be careful.”
“Do you think the other guys will agree?” Mikey said looking hopefully at Gerard.
“What do you mean?? A fourteen year old girl??” Bob glared at Gerard
“Look I know it’s strange but we should help her.” He looked from Ray to Bob and then to Frankie.
“Well I like the idea, but where would she sleep? On the bus I mean?” Frankie asked
“That’s not a problem, we just need to know if we are doing it. So yes or no?” Gerard said Mikey looked like he was holding his breath. But they all agreed in the end.

It was much easier than Angel had thought it would be. There wasn’t a sign of any traffic on the road. It was as if everyone knew the importance of Audra getting on the bus unseen. She had climbed into the thick brush just inside the woods on the opposite side of the road to wait for them to show up. She thought they weren’t coming but they had left early that morning and so she stayed there in the little bed she had made out of the grass. She had no idea what time it was. She left her watch on the table by the bed. She knew she had left at two so the hour seemed like 3 as it crept by. Taunting her with the idea that she would have to sneak back in and maybe get caught. Having to face the raving mad beast that would be her mother chilled her to the bone. She wrapped tighter into the long sweater she had grabbed as an afterthought when she slipped out of the door. That’s when she saw it creeping into the little gas station like a snake sneaking up on its prey.

She breathed a sigh of relief as it stopped across the street from her hiding place. She waited for Mikey to open the bus door that faced her. He stood on the steps as he looked into the sky. She climbed from her little spot and looked into the road both ways. Not a soul. No cars anywhere so she ran for the door and climbed into the bus. Her entire decent to the bus was hidden from the clerk inside by the bus itself. So at last she could breath. She sat in the seat with a little giggle of glee. And hugged herself. The thought that she could keep her baby just made happiness spill from her like an overflowing water fountain and everyone that witnessed it couldn’t help but laugh with her. The bus pulled away leaving the sleeping woman behind. Not a clue in her sleeping mind where her daughter was. Thinking she was still asleep in the bed next to her the woman’s dreams were filled with the nightmare that she must murder her grandchild. She held a knife above the infant in her dream. Her husband stood laughing behind her.
“Kill it!” He said She cringed in her dream. She whimpered out loud and tossed back and forth but settled on her side as the dream continued. Not waking up till morning.

“They aren’t really human.” Ian said.
“No shit.” Gerard said as he looked at the man in front of him.
“Ok, you guessed that.” He said matter of factly.
“We want to know what they are, and how to get rid of them.” Ray said looking just as annoyed as Gerard had sounded.
“Well, there’s a girl with them.” Ian said.
“Yes, Angel?” Gerard said Mikey looked at Gerard.
“Yes Angel is her name.” Ian said.
“How did you know that?” Mikey said looking at Gerard with wide eyes.
“I dream about her.” Gerard said and shrugged. I thought I was loosing it but when he told us about Kristie and Kim, that’s when I guessed Angel was real too. But I didn’t dream about Kim, I dreamed about Kristie.” He said and looked down at his shoes. The weight of the dream crashed into him again. He had been trying to avoid thinking about it but it would come to him like an unwanted disease that would eat at his stomach till it hurt.

They had all been on edge since they were told of the girls dieing. Sleep didn’t come easy and there were moments that all of them felt the cruel reality of this backing them into the corner. They managed moments of silliness to numb the craziness but it never took it away. It was still there to run its nails into their dreams.
“Yes Angel.” Ian said.
“She is why they are here. She disappeared from her car that she abandoned on the highway after she left her husband. It was just abandoned. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. So we thought it was some sort of foul play but then a girl fitting her description was reported to be with the band and the strangeness of the deaths, it all added up.” Ian said. The guys were all looking at him, a look of confusion apparent on all of their faces.

“Obviously this girl is a fan of yours. But not just a fan. She loves the band. I don’t mean just as a word I mean literally, she loves you.”
“How could she love us? I mean she doesn’t know us?” Mikey said frowning.
“I assure you she does. We wouldn’t be talking if she didn’t”
“The power it must have took,” he said offhandedly as he shook his head,
“Not one but five.” He shook his head still not completely believing it himself.

Stephen shook his head. What were they thinking? A 14-year-old girl? Now we are babysitters? He still couldn’t come to terms with what the band was doing. Thoughts of the day he had met them seemed odd know…………….

[He was coming home from seeing his dad. It was a good day. Today he remembered his son. He always looked forward to seeing his dad but he dreaded the days that he had no idea who he was. His dad was still heavy in his mind when he saw them.
“What the hell?” He said He had rounded the curve in the highway and there they were, in the middle of nowhere. Clad completely in black looking confused on the side of the road, all five of them. He pulled over and Gerard walked up to the driver’s door. He had recognized them the moment he saw them.
“Fuck man, what are you doing out here? What happened?” Stephen said.
“Some motherfucker jacked our bus.” Gerard said. His hand was lazily playing with his thick black hair.
“We have no way of calling anyone now, and you are the first person to stop.” Gerard said.
“I have my cell.” Stephen said as he fished it from his pocket and handed it to him. Gerard stood there a min looking at it like he was trying to remember what it was. He dialed a number as Stephen stepped out of the truck and started to walk toward the other guys standing around on the other side of the truck.
“Yea, I need to speak to…” Gerard said when the number he dialed was answered.
“Wow someone jacked your bus?” He said as he approached them.
“Yea man, about 30 min. ago. Just drove away and left us here.” Frankie said Knowing full well there was never a bus. He just hoped that Gerard could get in touch with someone that could get what they need and not ask any questions. Gerard walked over to them.
“Do you know this area?” He said looking at Stephen.
“I sure do.” He said.
“Then would you mind so much telling them where we can meet, if you don’t mind taking us there? He’s bringing us a bus and money.” Gerard said. Handing Stephen the phone. After he hung up the phone they climbed in the truck and he introduced himself. While they waited for the bus to arrive Gerard asked if he wanted to be their driver.
“It includes free concerts and pay too.” Gerard said and smiled. He didn’t think about it long before he said yes.]

And now here he was. Driving them and two females. One a young run away. He shook his head again. He didn’t agree with it but decided that he’d let it be.
