I started reading fandomsecrets which has informed me that I am indeed a BNF (Big Named Fan) basically, a lot of people read my fic and comment so therefore I can be intimidating.  Which is funny if only because I'm so not a presence on Livejournal and I became a BNF in my 2 fandoms (BTVS and Forever Knight) by ignoring everything else and writing my own fic, ( Read more... )

I really don't understand the appeal of MPREG (male pregnancy) fics. I mean, turning straight characters gay I can get behind.  I love Sherlock Holmes; have since I was a kid. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was my entry into both adult fiction and the idea that “yes, you too can read the classics!” So, kinda defining stuff there.
And now Guy Ritchie is taking my childhood favorite and smashing it with a big, heavy rock.

Fanfic is such a strange thing.  Sure there's a ton of horrible stories out there; from Mary-Sues, to pointless angst, to every sort of wishfulfilment you can think of.  But, then there are the gems, the ones that are occasionally even better than the stuff they're based on.  Stories that suck you in and spit you out hours later, still thinking ( Read more... )
