Apparently, different people have different definitions of "move-in ready." We are about $6000 into renovations and repairs with quite a bit left to do. Rentals here are plentiful, though, so we took pictures and I listed the house yesterday with a May 1st availability because we wanted to get someone in as soon as it's finished. We got almost a hundred replies in 24 hours, which I wasn't expecting so we're now holding an open house on Saturday. I sent everyone rental applications and a link for a credit check so that may weed out anyone who isn't at least somewhat serious.
In the mean time, I've been working smarter, not harder (because it's hard enough even with the right tool for the job). Using a wire brush and steam cleaner on the grout lines of the tile floor was going slowly so Aaron gave me a wire brush attachment for the power drill. That works much better, but it's still time consuming to do that, sweep and vacuum up the dirt, then steam the tiles. More than half the house is tile and it was all caked in dirt.
I feel awful that Alex hasn't been getting enough attention since we've been focusing on the house, but he usually does pretty well for the first half hour to 45 minutes at the house. I bring out toys that are either new or ones he hasn't played with for awhile and lots of snacks. We've also been having encore Easter egg hunts as he has discovered how much he enjoys treat filled plastic footballs. Whatever works!
