I get by with a little help from my friends.

Let me start out by saying "LJ, what are you messing with? My Blog is all over to the left where it doesn't belong."

Update on the roofers. They finally came back today. They peeled the big blue tarp off the left side, and covered the roof with plywood. Then by 11:30 they had replaced the tarp and were gone for the day. I almost choked I was laughing so hard. Biv claims to have seen the owner looking in the dumpster with a puzzled look. Yeah, I guess for her it isn't so funny. I thought for sure they were going to get one side done, I swear I saw that rubber roofing stuff in one of their hands. My mistake,

As to the backhoe, one of my father's friends who used to run backhoes for a living came by today. He knew my tale of woe about the starting problems. I showed him how it wasn't starting and he told me to give him the starting fluid and he'd give it a little shot (very little) and low and behold it started like a trooper. He now thinks it may be the glow plug. He thought it might be air in the lines, be we cant figure out how that would be happening. So I am going to have to defiantly call the repair guy and see what he can do. But at least I have a way of staring it without cooking the starter. I do know that you are not supposed to use starting fluid with diesel, but he said just a breath of it would be ok.

I'm still getting finches at my feeder, and on our walk a few days ago, Himself and I saw what I guess are purple finches, except they are mostly reddish. We also had goldfinches doing dogfights over the cemetery a few days ago.
Also at the cemetery we have been noticing a lot of amorous squirrels. They are the funniest things. They roll around and tumble together, like non stop action. But they are so cute about it. I actually saw them rolling down the hill together.

It was really windy here today. Branches were coming down. But at the same time, the birds were filling up on any inch worms that couldn't hang on. Good! Damn things.

It's been cold the last few days, parts of Vermont got up to two feet of snow I think. None here, but we did get rain with ice in it yesterday again, not pouring rain like last week though.

Still looking at mowers because I expect that my mower just isn't going to make it much longer. Anyone who wants to give a recommendation or a do not buy, please feel free. You may have seen this request on FB too. I'm thinking of a Deere.

I went to Himself's dress rehearsal last night as 'helper mom', although quite frankly I have nothing much to do. The other moms are much more helpful than I am. I made aprons and donated a prop. That's about all I'm good for to be honest. But that aside, it was fun to watch the show, in progress. And, drum roll please.. Himself has a new friend, and she's female, and she's fawning over him. It's so cute. She actually gets him to smile and be engaged. It's been tough because even during this, he's been getting bullied and tormented. But if he makes one friend out of it, it will be worth it as far as I'm concerned. Now, if only he can remember her name...

I've been dealing with a family that wants to get a stone in. First off, they are liars and nuts. Second off, there is a huge family feud going on under the surface. The grandparents bought 4 lots, and left two open ones. Presumably one for each child. But one used their lot for their son, the grandson, when he died unexpectedly. They have wanted a bench, but there is an issue with moving another stone, and now there is an issue with the other sibling and that he claims both lots were agreed to be his. So the sister may not have had the right to even use the lot for her son. And it's all a big fat pain in the ass for me. Its gotten to the point where they need lawyers. How sad.

In the news, we get an approval for Cape Wind, but there is an oil slick heading for the gulf. Drill baby, Drill!!! Oh yeah. Which of these is going to be more environmentally harmful I wonder?

alternative energy, stupidity, snow, weather, oil, sqirrels, wind power, birds, digging, himself, mowers, graves
