Conversation with our Asst. Director

AD: I just talked to Lee [the custodian]. What is he talking about?
Me: Oh! I just called him. A patron said that the powerstrip at the end of the study hall isn't working.
AD: Thank goodness. All I heard was "Christi...strip...end of hall."

I'm constantly amazed at the things people leave at the library. Keys, jewelry, computer disks and books are probably the most common items, but there's always something interesting in our lost and found box. A single shoe, a well-loved doll, articles of clothing, personal letters - it makes one wonder how these items could be forgotten ( Read more... )

Okay, I'm not a parent and so I would never presume to tell a parent how to handle their children. However I think that there are some commonsense parenting axioms that even us non-parents can see and understand. There's some kind of pen epidemic going on here today. In the past five minutes three people have asked for pens. We usually have a cup of pens/pencils on the desk, but it's empty. And all our golf pencils are gone, too.

Now even I don't have a pen because Pen-less Lady #3 took my last one.

Why don't people come prepared?

I just got a thank you card in the mail for the Harry Potter party. A thank you card! For me! I've never gotten a card for a program before.

I feel all warm and chirpy inside :)
