I tend to get the blahs every year, sometime in February. There were a couple of bad years back when I was in school where the only thing that got me through the month of February was wanting to get to my next birthday the first week of March.

Thursday night I told Jenny, my massage therapist, that I’ve got a lot on my mind, and I feel like my brain is all over the place right now.

Yesterday I ended up doing quite a bit of writing. 3,300 words. But that was on four different stories that I’ve currently got in progress. All of which are pretty much demanding to be written right now. ( Read more... )

Tonight my massage therapist (not my usual masseuse) was trying to strike up a conversation. He asked if I had pets? And we ended up talking about dogs (he has a dog) and cats (while I don't currently have a cat, I've had them most of my life) for most of the hour. I can't imagine what this week must have been like for Kate Winslett. Finding out that Alan Rickman (her costar in Sense and Sensibility) died and that she was nominated for another Oscar in the same day. Talk about an emotional roller coaster.

I was reading old Live Journal entries yesterday. Man, 2011 was not a good year. But I also read some good posts, things that I’d written that still resonate with me today.

Also, the level of incompetence and dysfunction at The Mushroom Farm still amuses and confounds me to this day.

I love the little paper crumpling noise that Windows makes when you empty the Recycle bin.

My Windows\Temp folder is still tiny. Even smaller than it was the other day (i.e. the daily temp files are smaller than the other day). Yay!

Scanning through my spam folder before I delete things (because G-mail occasionally routs legit mail to the wrong place), I spot the headline "Julie EAT THIS, NEVER DIET AGAIN!" And my brain immediately supplies a list of things they could be selling: cyanide, hemlock, rat poison....

Yeah, my brain is a special brain...

I just remembered a snippet of a dream from the other night. Someone was complimenting me on my color choices. They said something like, “You always do such a nice job of matching colors.” And I accepted the compliment graciously.
