Just a quick follow-up post. Indeed, I have another throat infection. My throat has plagued me all my life, both before and after the tonsillectomy in my youth. These past two years without health problems may well be a record for me. Well, apparently even frequent hand-washing and well above eight glasses of water per day isn't enough to stave off sickness forever. On Wednesday I came down with something very nasty and was quite unable to finish my day at the University, leaving early. My infection has been defeated - both by the Brainbin Fortress of Immunity and with the help of some fast-acting potent antibiotics. Today I went to the doctor for an examination and was found to be in excellent health. Unfortunately, this meant that I was submitted to the dreaded influenza ( Read more... )

My throat infection appears to be clearing nicely - I haven't anything more than a faint tickle left. And it's a comforting tickle, as opposed to the vexing irritation that greeted me last week. Then again, after all I've been through, perhaps the tickle is only relief in a relative sense.

As it turned out, I don't have a cold at all - I have a throat infection. I'm more than a little annoyed - this is my second throat infection this year - and a little alienated. Will I ever get another common cold? Will they all be infections? Have I actually become immune to all 200+ strains of the cold at such a young age? The mysteries abound.

As is often the case in early- to mid-Autumn, I have developed a cold (or what appears to be a cold). I also tend to develop infections or viruses in the early- to mid-Spring, as well, if you care to peruse my entries from March as an example. That turned out to be a throat infection that lasted for well over a week, so hopefully I have no more ( Read more... )
