"...I know." His voice was still a bit scratchy from tequila.
"I love her, Colby." Charlie's voice strained.
"Do you? I mean, do you really? She's wonderful, I get that. She's great, and she's funny, she makes you laugh. She's got a killer body, and those legs go on for miles, I know. I get that too. She understands your math language, something I never could begin to comprehend. She's safe in that math way. Your father likes her, and your brother, too. But what about you, Charlie. Do you really ache for her?" Colby's words thundered in his own gut. He felt proud of his actions. A surge of relief in his questioning, in his straightforwardness, in his honesty.
Charlie wasn't speaking. He was struggling to, but the words just weren't coming out.
Colby jerked his head backward, pulling away. "I don't believe you! Even after all this time, after everything I've ever laid down on the line for you, you're gonna give me this crap about her being the supposed right one. She's just a high probability for you, Charlie. Just the safest choice. And you know what? That's bullshit. Sometimes love can't be forced into a frickin' mathbook equation. Sometimes the math has to take on an unsophisticated life of its own-"
Colby felt Charlie's lips smash onto his, the magnitude almost throwing him backward. Except he wasn't flying back. Charlie was right here, the nervousness dispersed, fears gone. Charlie's presence was holding him here, like gravity. Yeah, but it was stronger than gravity.
His hand was cupping Charlie's left cheek, the other hand on the back of Charlie's neck. And his heart, oh goddd his heart was thrashing around in his chest. He couldn't process thoughts anymore. He just felt.
He felt everything he ever needed.

*Please make note, this fic was inspired by the song "Smash Into You" by Beyonce and Jon Mclaughlin. The song in solo versions can be found on Beyonce's "I Am Sasha Fierce" album and on Jon's website. The duet version mashup isn't official, but is highly amazing.
