Week 1 down
It's Friday! I'm still loving the job, it's great, even though I feel pretty useless right now. I'm really not doing much of anything, an that kinda sucks, but I am learning stuff, and that is good. I'm scheduled for a training class on the 8th in Orland on the CWS/CMS system, which will help a lot. After that I'll be able to really do the referral stuff. Which means I'm going to have a lot of knowledge about alleged child abuse/neglect/endangerment in this county. That's gonna be depressing. But, my job will be to try to find suitable relatives to place children with, rather than place them into foster care, which has the potential to be really great in the cases where it works out. Anyway, Tuesday the 8th I'll go in to work a little early, pick up a county car, and drive to Orland alone for this training, which will last until 4:30, then I'll come back, drop off the car, and go home. Orland isn't far, about a half hour drive, so I'll still have an 8 hour work day, all told.
Right now I need to finish cleaning up the house, change the sheets on the guest bed, and get ready for the birthday party tomorrow. Mom and Candy will be here tomorrow, hopefully early. I'll need to go pick up some wrapping paper to wrap Serra's birthday present (not gonna say what it is in case she manages to read this, I don't think she can with the password protection and stuff, but just in case), then get the pizza and the cake, and a couple of party games and some boy toys to put in the piñata.
