Can you believe I only heard about this today? Earth Hour, started in Sydney in 2007, has gone global, and Toronto is participating! It's voluntary, of course, so most people will ignore it. So the hot topic in today's local new is how Toronto Mayor David Miller is proposing - threatening, would be a better word - to close down one of the subway lines, reduce buses and raise transit fares by 25 cents. Yesterday we went to Niagara Falls. One and a half hour's drive was more like two because of traffic, and our morning was wasted getting the car in the first place. But it was worth it!
